Family Prayer Strategy

"If you think about the families for whom you are praying today, who are they? For many of us, the answer is that we pray for families only when we hear they are struggling. We intercede for them when marriages are deteriorating, children are wandering, and the devil is already winning. That means that our praying for families is only catching up with what the devil is doing—rather than guarding families against his coming attacks.” -Chuck Lawless
Each week it’s our privilege to cycle through five families who are partners at Arrowhead. We pray for kids, parents, and singles, taking names and faces before God’s throne, believing his Spirit will work in circumstances and relationships. You may occasionally find specific requests below, but we regularly pray God’s Word through the five requests below.

This week pray for:
- Jared and Kelli Galler
- Lance and Kerry Gatlin
- Curtis and Angie Gibson - Forgiveness and salvation within the family, healing and reconciliation from past hurts, protection over grandson and trusting the He is working in the waiting.
- Amanda Gibson - safe travels back to Rwanda to start a new school year in August, staff unity at the school, God is preparing an assistant that will have a heart for the school, lots of opportunities to share Christ
- Devon and Jessi Gillett

LOVE

Father, fill their home with love. Help them put the others in their home first, to believe the best about their family members, and to not hold grudges.
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. Nor does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (ESV)

FORGIVENESS

Father, make their home a place of forgiveness. When someone offends a family member, make them quick to repent of their sin, and give the one offended the grace necessary to forgive.
Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 4:32 (ESV)

GRATITUDE

Father, grow gratitude in this family for all You’ve entrusted to them, including their relationships and their resources. Help them celebrate your goodness.
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (ESV)

SPEECH

Father, let the tone of this family’s home be that they speak words of encouragement and not condemnation.
Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. Ephesians 4:29 (ESV)

HOPE

Father, fill this family with a sense of expectation that You can do anything. When the enemy says they won’t make it or can’t change, silence his voice and fill them with hope.
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. Romans 15:13 (ESV)
